Mohammed Ben Sulayem, president of motorsport’s governing body the FIA, is under investigation for allegedly interfering over a Formula 1 race result. A whistleblower has told the FIA that Ben Sulayem allegedly intervened to overturn a penalty given to Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso at the 2023 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen sent out a chilling message to his Formula 1 rivals with a crushing victory in the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix. The defending champion finished 22 seconds clear of teammate Sergio Perez while Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz came home third ahead of teammate Charles Leclerc. Mercedes’ George Russell dropped from third to finish fifth amid cooling issues McLaren’s Lando Norris was sixth.

Max Verstappen takes pole for season opening Bahrain Grand Prix

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen put in a crushing performance to set pole position for the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix. The world champion was 0.228 seconds quicker than Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in second. Mercedes’ George Russell was third from Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz. Red Bull’s Sergio Perez was fifth, from Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso and McLaren’s Lando Norris.

Paul Pogba vows to appeal four year doping ban

France and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has been banned from football for four years for a doping offence. The 2018 World Cup winner tested positive for testosterone after Juventus’ game against Udinese on August 20, 2023. The 30 year old has stated he will lodge an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
