Holders Liverpool booked their place in the final of the Carabao Cup against Newcastle as they thrashed Tottenham.Liverpool were on top from the start and went ahead on 34 minutes through Cody Gakpo. A second half flurry of goals from Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai and Virgil van Dijk left Spurs flatfooted as the Reds marched on towards Wembley and a date with Newcastle.

Wood hits double as Forest down Leicester

Chris Wood scored a brace as Nottingham Forest moved up to fifth in the Premier League with a 3-1 victory over hosts Leicester City in the East Midlands derby on Friday, underlining their excellent start to the season.
