Decision on Palace’s Europa League fate delayed

A decision on whether Crystal Palace can compete in next season’s Europa League has been delayed by Uefa. The Eagles’ place, earned by winning the FA Cup last season, has been under threat because of Uefa’s multi-club ownership rules, which prevents teams under the same ownership from competing in the same European competition. Co-owner John Textor, who also co-owns French club Lyon, has agreed to sell his 44% stake in Palace in a bid to help their case.

Lando Norris bounces back with victory in Austria

Lando Norris fought off a race-long challenge from McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri to win the Austrian Grand Prix. Norris’ third victory of the year, leading home a McLaren one-two, reduced his deficit in the championship to the Australian to 15 points. Ferrari’s Charles Lecerc completed the podium while Red Bull’s Max Verstappen saw his race ended by turn 3 after he was spun by Kimi Antonelli.

Paul Pogba joins AS Monaco on a free transfer

Paul Pogba has completed move to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco as he nears a return to competitive action after a two-year absence. The World-Cup winning midfielder’s last competitive game came in September 2023 for Juventus. Injury and a doping ban have seen him sidelined since with Juventus mutually terminating his contract last November. It will be the 32 year old’s first time playing at a professional level in his native France.

Norris storms to pole ahead of Austrian GP

Lando Norris took a dominant pole position at the Austrian Grand Prix as late yellow flag drama left championship leader Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen frustrated. Norris has topped every session since second practice and continued his superb form into qualifying, beating Charles Leclerc to pole by over half a second – the biggest pole margin of the 2025 F1 season so far. Oscar Piastri will start from P3 alongside Lewis Hamilton on the second row.

Keith Andrews appointed as new Brentford coach

Keith Andrews says Brentford’s potential is “massive” after he was appointed as their new head coach on a three-year deal following Thomas Frank’s departure to Tottenham. Former Wolves midfielder Andrews, 44, joined the Bees last summer to work under Frank as the club’s set-piece coach. Having previously been on the coaching staff with Sheffield United, MK Dons and the Republic of Ireland, Andrews’ promotion to the top job is the Irishman’s first step into management.
