Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé released from hospital

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe has been discharged from hospital after being admitted with “acute gastroenteritis”. Mbappe missed Real’s opening Club World Cup match against Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal on Wednesday, with head coach Xabi Alonso revealing he had a fever. The club subsequently confirmed Mbappe was suffering from “an acute case of gastroenteritis” and had been admitted to hospital for further tests and treatment.

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk charged by FA over doping

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged by the Football Association with violating anti-doping rules. The 24-year-old has not played since being handed a provisional suspension in December after he returned a positive test, reportedly for the banned substance meldonium.

F1 to race in Canada until 2035 following contract extension

Formula 1 has announced that the Canadian Grand Prix will race into its seventh decade following a new four-year agreement with the Promoter and the Governments of Canada and Québec, that will see the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal remain on the calendar through to 2035. Russell wins Canadian Grand Prix as Norris and Piastri collide

Mercedes’ George Russell won the Canadian Grand Prix from pole as McLaren teammates and championship rivals Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri crashed late on. Norris hit the back of Piastri’s car on the pit straight with four laps to go seeing the race end under the safety car with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen second ahead of the second Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli who picks up his first podium finish.
